what if..?

Our life seems to be a series of happening following each other seemingly randomly. Small decision can have huge impact onto our lives, one wrong turn will lead to a wrong address. People say, you have to be in the right place on the right time. The world events could have changed with just small changes, birth of a baby, different choice of career by A. Hitler perhaps? Out of all UK schools I ended up in the one that would not give me the tools and degree I was after, but provided the chance to meet my future, now wife.

Last night I was emptying our dishwasher and thought to handle 5 coffee cups at once. Slip them into the cupboard, like I have done so many times before, when one started to fall. I tried to push it into the cupboard door and hold it against it to save it from falling, but instead I smashed it to the metal hinge and pushed my hand hard against the broken cup. The sharp edge cut deep into my right hand finger right to the bone. I looked at my hand with disbelief, it looked rather innocent, little cut. But I guessed it was little more than that, gingerly I bent my finger and with relief saw it bend and straighten, but at the same time I saw the knuckle joint clearly and the thin bone going. The cut was to the bone, pretty straight and about an inch long. I put a bandage on it and ended up spending the early hours of the next morning in the ER. It was pretty close call to my dental career, I like to think I could work without my right hand ring finger, but the truth is, it is rather essential for a dentist.. So thank God I have the use of that finger still and perhaps next time I only take one cup at the time out of the dishwasher.

This is me at the emergency room waiting area, where we spent 3 hours waiting....Me with my hand raised so I would not bleed everywhere.. but I looked like I was asking for a chance to speak the whole time, that's why the smile.:)

This is my finger at the operating room.. I would have put 3 stitches, but the Doc. working that night seemed to think 1 would do it.. I have heard it before many times, that dentists often use little fancier work than regular Dr:s when suturing.. ???


And in other news, the weather has turned around, a mild -4C weather has arrived and it feels like spring.. I hope this is the beginning of warm weather and snow melting time.

It is too cold to be out

Bright morning tractors and freezing weather

We have found that from you tube one can find all sorts of videos of tractors, dozers excavators and more to entertain our little heavy machinery geek. He stares at the tractor videos like it is his job. Here he is watching a excavator lading up trucks one after an other..

We took Peregrine for sledding one day and he totally loved it, not once did he cry or make any attempt to stop. I thought he would get little scared, but I guess he trusts his daddy still, even though the first time ever I put him in the sled I pulled too sharp a corner and he faceplanted into the snow.. I guess I still have the all knowledgeable status in his eyes. I know the progression goes only downhill from this first to, he does not know all, he does not know anything and understands nothing to how did he ever know that to hopefully The old man was not that stupid after all..
It is funny to think I am transferring from my parents knew something into the person who is evaluated by my own off spring.. :)
The weather has been very siberian, -23 to -28C and sunny, it is like polar bear outside, nice to look at, deadly to be close to.. Our bedlinen are outside getting the cold treatment, which I hope will make them fresh and "clean"
Presidential elections are held today, and we get a new face to lead our little country.
