New place new faces

We moved to a new place some 2,5 times the size of our old place. Amazingly it is difficult to fit all the junk we have collected in our old place into this new one. We had people help us from our church and friends from school came also. Thank you all for your generous assistance.
The year seems to draw to a close soon, even if there are some month and few weeks to go.. It has been the busiest time since I can't even remember!

Peregrine has now his own bed and a room all to himself, which he loves, the downstairs is starting to look habitable for the in-laws and winter refuses to make an entry even if some dusting of snow came few weeks ago.

I visited Helsin shortly to check out the Finnish Dental association meeting this year. It was full of dental related things, like floss and toothpaste and drills and such.. Somehow this year it had lost it's glamour.. it was rather more of the same than previous years.. Peregrine enjoyed the candy and apples and gum that was available for enthusiastic two year olds at the fair..

 Here he is, I put him on a high chair to make sure he does not run off.. then back to buggy for a ride..

 Our meatclub made it's season start and finish I think this semester, but it was not shabby, This is beef wellington all cooked and ready to go with some delicious beer sauce..

 Oh and here is even sweeter thing! Peregrines new cousin Casimir! Oh how adorable and small.

I have three more weeks of School and then it is time for Christmas holiday and hopefully safe delivery of two wonderful new babies to our new home and Welcome In-laws as well!! This is exciting!!

Pekka

Few last days of old home

It has been a while since our family has moved, but again we are going to make it to a new location.. I (Pekka) originally hoped we could stay in our home where we got to at the beginning of my studies and stay there till we move out.  But as everything, it was not really up to us, but as the twins are about to become separate members of our family we need to expand.. and so we move.
It has been lovely, we had our thanksgiving here, meatclub and many good memories.. on to a new place to make some new memories I guess..

We painted one wall yellow here and now need to repaint.. and perhaps rip off the hard and carefully measured and placed mirrors.. Oh well, hopefully we find enough people to help so we can make it in one day..

Just a few days ago we got our first snow, it came in the night and melted away during the day, but it is a grim reminder to us that the winter is coming. Although there are so many great things for us to expect this winter gain that we should really not worry about the dark and cold to come..

Hopefully everything will go fine with the move and Peregrine will find his new home nice and enjoy the neighbor kids company.
I am as busy as ever trying to motivate myself to read for Surgery final exam during our week off next week and packing and organizing the move and trying hard to remember that next weekend the winter time will take affect.. and not be at school or at church an hour early..

Breakfast of champions...

It is funny how things get done when there are people around.. We had the pleasure of having My sister Tiina and her two kids Vilho and Martta with us.. the days flew by like the wind. I remember thinking it is going to be a long week to get through, but all of a sudden it was her time to leave and we were "alone" with Peregrine and Halle at home..

 The action was fast and furious with few breaks in between.. like sleeping and eating.. Here all the kids dove off couch onto the pillows placed on the floor yelling "Kabazoom!"

 Later next week Peregrine wondered into the kitchen and took it upon himself to find some food... and ended up chewing some dishwasher tablet for evening snack.. we proceeded to call the poison control, but luckily our brand of soap was not poisonous..

Here Peregrine is eating little more agreeable evening snack in his own style as ou can observe in the picture underneath.. he managed to chew off a round piece of cheese and leave the cracker bread untouched... that is skill...or pickyness.

We proceeded to upgrade our Olympus camera to Nikon D5100 to prepare ourselves for year long photo shoot with twins.. This is proven to be the best way to remember what took/takes place in the first year of the baby's life. Halle just finished a photo book of Peregrines first year using photos we took during that time. The first month photos are almost all grainy and poorly lit, taken when the baby sleeps.. Now we have tools to snap those low light photos..

A thoughtful Peregrine at local restaurant with some fries and "dip Dip" as he calls Ketchup, which he proceeded to drink straight out of the cup when the fries ran out..

Late spring-to-end of summer 2/2

At the nd of our time in Salo we cleaned up the signs of our time at the wonderful apartment where we had views like this

It was rather sad to depart from our summery retreat, where Halle had made friends with the neighbors and we had settled to live. Perhaps some day we come back.. Thank you all our good friends in Salo, the time was great not only because of the view but because of good friends.
The white couch got some banana stains that would not come off even with extra washes..
Why there is so little pictures from Salo you may ask... well Our camera managed some three pictures, then ran out of battery and we noted that the charger was in Oulu.. hence very few photos.. Will add the ones from friends here if I can get them.

Here is peregrine at the local art museum front yard, where an old steam engine was on display, he was way more impressed with the train than the great artwork inside..:)

We had a chance to visit my brother and play a little disc golf and hang out a little.. Although the last day in Salo I walked too much and got a sore right foot, which kept me from going places some.. Peregrine had an ear infection which we waited out with two consultations from MD. Sumuvuori.

The train ride up north was a nightmare, took forever and we were so tired of travelling.. and had way too much luggage to make it home from the station.. We were all little under the weather and tired by the time we finally exited the train at Oulu train station. HUGE thanks to Nora our friend who came and rescued us by giving us a lift home...

Back to the salt mines we go.. some 20 exams and loads of clinical work still ahead.. move to a bigger apartment and one scientific article before graduation... Phew!

Late spring-to-end of summer (1/2)

So, what took place between spring and end of summer.. first of all our computer broke down and swiftly pushed us to the stone age of communication.. well not litterally as the telephones were still working fine. But no blog entries..
Halle flew to USA for a couple of weeks in the beginning of our summer, spent her days sleeping and resting and enjoying little regression back to teenage years minus having a baby of course.
I slaved away at Oulu University lab and managed to fail a experiment twice!! I can't believe it.. I was there litterally round the clock trying to make this thing work out and nada.. as my supervisor says Confocal laser fluorescense microscope is little more complicated than a nitting needle.. it sure was and enzymes dont seem to work on command.

We  made our way to Salo finland, through rather complicated cancel a flight- and trainticket routine with few euros spent for good measure. In Salo many things are called Salon, (genetive of Salo in Finnish), some will find that amusing..like we did.
I worked my first ever two months as a dentist, which was terrifying, fun, tiring and wonderful all at the same time.

In the beginning of the summer, and this time the two lines on the tester were telling us to prepare a room for two babies also! needles to say I worked an extra week to prepare us for the coming of two needing little ones by the end of the year or early next year...
