So you think you are in control...I think you are crazy (Gnarls Barkley..)

I have had everything planned, from the bus to the airport to road trip down south.. but It is all in God's hands, as I follow the new unfolding about Icelandic volcano and wonder if I am going to even get off ground at Helsinki airport..  I think in this day and age of air travel and organization the uncertainties of life are forgotten and put aside. Now I am separated from my family by a little pieces of burned earth floating up in the air...
Now I am just helplessly waiting and hoping that the ash rising from the very planet we are walking on will be blown aside from the flight path of my flight..
Our yearly BBQ end of summer bash happened this Sunday evening at the lawn by our place, it was warmish 18 and when the clouds covered the sun it turned bit chilly. Thanks for everybody for attending, it was 3rd annual meeting.. It somehow felt little lacking without Halle and little Peregrine, but I felt that it was pretty good anyhow. And I have to post the photo here.. I dont know if there is some sort of trickery with the camera or am I am giant???

One exam, four mornings, one patient meeting, few cups of coffee, and I will be with my family again! I got the molkky game for our friends and have packed nothing yet... But am already half way to the sunny state.. 

Oh and please pray for my friends big exam on Wednesday!

Summer is almost here..

The trees have turned color, and grass is green... But I think that should have happened some months ago already.. It is wonderful how short our memories are.. I can barely believe that it is possible that in this freezing country it is possible to bike to town without a coat on. I keep thinking that I should have a hat on when I head out the door..then I promptly put it in my pocket when I get out as it is not so cold anymore..
For the past years our summers have been spent elsewhere, this year is no exception. I told my supervisor last fall that this summer I will be spending in USA.. He did not miss a beat but pointed out on to a world map in his office and asked me "how about Florida".. Well I didn't think about spending time in FL, but I thought that it would be close enough on the east coast.. so that was it.. I didn't really think much about it.. now it is almost time to get going... Florida... hmm probably about 10-20 degrees Celsius warmer than what we have here in Oulu.. I am definitely going for the shorts and t-shirt this time!!!
The apartment is all cleaned.. It took me a whole week to clean and organize and still I would say there are some stuff around that needs a home.. I have bought two pad locks which means we can lay claim on two extra storage compartments downstairs.. I have no idea what we are going to do with all that stuff when we head out of this apartment eventually... :| Well that will be a problem when we eventually do it..
I wrote once that students most productive time is summer...That is when by doing nothing you advance up a year/grade.. and woops the very next semester you are no longer a freshman, but a more advanced student.. I am looking forward to that very much.. not that I hate the idea of summer in between.. It has been a rough and hard year at school and otherwise, I am so in need of some relaxing! But few more things to do before that..
